Xavier Ferrer Chust soon learned the secrets of the photo lab, as his father was a photography enthusiast, although he did not start taking photographs until 1982.
In the beginning, his work were socialy orientated in black and white. At this time he took part in competitions obtaining local and national awards.
It is from 1988 when, already mastering the technique, he developed a better quality work and without forgeting the photography contests, he focused more on the elaboration of homogeneous works to turn them into exhibitions.
In the year 2000, he puts aside photography and dismantles his lab, so he can no longer copy his own photos. In 2007, taking advantage of the rise of digital photography, he manages to adapt to the new rhythm and retouching techniques and the new possibilities of the cameras, to make a new kind of photography, new documentary work but now in color, breaking the rules of black and white photography.
